Places of Interest

There are lots of things to see and do in this part of the country. Sussex is renowned for its picturesque countryside, beautiful gardens, historical sites and for its stunning coastline. There is shopping aplenty and Brighton, Tunbridge Wells and Eastbourne are all equidistant from Tamberry Hall (15 miles approximately).

Historical Interest
Arundel Castle
ancestral home of the Dukes of Norfolk, the castle dates from the Norman Conquest.

Battle Abbey and battlefield
world famous for the 1066 invasion battle.

Lewes Castle
imposing castle and barbican, built shortly after 1066.

Anne of Cleves' House
a traditional wealden hall house, given to Anne by Henry VIII.

Glynde Place
an Elizabethan manor house built in 1589.

Firle Place
the home of the Gage family for over 500 years, Firle is a Tudor house with 18th C. modifications.

Michelham Priory
this former Augustinian priory boasts England's longest water filled mediaeval moat.

Herstmonceux Castle
this is a 15th C. moated castle.

Bodiam Castle
built in 1385, this moated castle still has most of its ramparts in place.

Pevensey Castle
built originally by the Romans and subsequently altered through the Middle Ages.

Borde Hill
a historic garden with rare trees and shrubs.

Leonardslee
set in a 240 acre valley with 7 lakes, this is arguably one of the most beautiful gardens of Europe.

Sheffield Park
a 120 acre garden for all seasons, with 4 lakes.

Groombridge Place
200 acres with a series of traditional walled gardens.

Wakehurst Place
Kew in the country, this houses the Millenium Seedbank.

Sissinghurst Castle Garden
One of the world’s most celebrated gardens, the creation of Vita Sackville-West and her husband Sir Harold Nicolson
